Reps from this company claim they are calling from Global Contact Services on behalf of Bank of America's Insurance Services and that they are selling accident isurance for automobile accidents.
Bank of America customer service representatives cannot confirm if these calls are or are not fraudulent.
FTC representatives caution against providing any information to reps who call from this company.
This company ignores the rules set forth by the National Do Not Call List by calling both customers and non-customers of Bank Of America who are registered on the Do Not Call List, who have opted out of 3rd party solicitations and who have asked for the calls to stop.
When asked for calls to stop they claim they will remove your number from their list within 30 days and continue to call throughout and past the 30 days.
Rec'd call from 800-931-6317 January 2, 2009 6:18pm MST, 866-315-7101 February 3, 2009 12:56PM MST & February 4, 2009 10:32 AM MST, March 3rd, 2009 1:38 PM MST, & March 10th, 2009 (time not documented), and from 866-484-8278 February 3, 2009 12:57 PM MST & February 4, 2009 4:31PM MST, and February 6, 2009 10:22 AM MST.
All show up on the caller ID as Bank Of America.
I answered one of these calls on February 4th and they asked for someone who previously had my number, however, I've had this number since Apr 2007 and it is on the DNC.
They said that since the person who they were asking for has an account with BofA they have business with her and therefore the call is not covered by the DNC.
The woman I spoke to said that BofA was offering insurance, and tried to solicit me. I told her I was not interested and to please stop calling. She said she would remove my number from their calling list but it would take up to 30 days.
After the first 6 calls, I contacted Bank of America and had them opt me out of special offers.
When I rec'd yet another call on March 10th, 2009 I called Bank of America 3-way which had previously informed me that these were fraudulent calls. Now that I had a BofA rep on the line and a rep from the so called "Bank of America Insurance Services" the Bank of America rep told me that they couldn't confirm that it was fraudulent.
The woman that said she was from the insurance department said that they were a 3rd party calling on behalf of Bank of America and that her company name is Global Contact Services.
She said they were offering accident insurance for automobile accidents.
I was then told that my number would be removed once and for all considering they have been calling for someone that is not me and that my phone is on the DNC and they shouldn't have called me to begin with.
I'm going to be giving a call to Global Contact Services and the FTC to confirm all this.
